On the List | SIFF returns to the Egyptian, Deco Japan at SAAM, Family Fun Fair in Madison Valley

Seattle’s weather gods understand. The start of the 40th annual Seattle International Film Festival is being blessed by a partly rainy weekend to help justify your time inside in the dark. We wrote here about the return to service for the venerable Egyptian Theatre as it again plays host to many of the Hill’s SIFF screenings. Laura Dern will be on hand on E Pine Saturday for a special screening of the classic Wild at Heart. More flick picks and insights here from our friends at The SunBreak.

Friday, you should definitely get outside before the drizzle for Capitol Hill’s station stops on the 2014 Bike to Work Day.

Deco Japan is now showing at Volunteer Park’s Seattle Asian Art Museum:Deco Japan

Deco Japan: Shaping Art and Culture, 1920–1945, with nearly 200 works, reveals the widespread and particular impact of Art Deco on Japanese culture. Through a wide range of mediums—sculpture, painting, prints, ceramics, lacquerware, jewelry, textiles, furniture, and graphic ephemera—this exhibition introduces the spectacular craftsmanship and sophisticated designs of Japan’s contribution to the movement.

Shown in our gem-like 1933 Art Deco building, Deco Japan offers you the rare opportunity to experience the full range of Deco artistry in a period setting.

Thursday night, Keith McDaniel’s AIDS/LifeCycle Benefit fills the Baltic Room. Meanwhile, you’ll find Motor City Revue on stage through the weekend at the Broadway Performance Hall.
