There are a lot of people on Earth watching sports on television for the next several rotations of the planet. We found a few of them gathered Thursday on Capitol Hill at E Union sports bar Auto Battery as host Brazil started its push to claim the World Cup with a 3-1 victory over red and white-checkered Croatia. The match was an excellent re-introduction of World Cup soccer with a mix of sloppiness and brilliance from the hosts, tenacity from the Croatians and, in the end, a lopsided score. And, of course, the officiating was atrocious. Meanwhile, Capitol Hill game watchers reacquainted themselves with the skills required to nurse two (or three) beers for two hours. It all made for a good way to burn a sunny afternoon in Seattle with another month of games to come. Team USA makes its debut Monday in a 3 PM Seattle-time tilt against Ghana. CHS put together a list of some suggested venues where you can watch the games on Capitol Hill. Let us know if there are any we missed and any vital match details for the various bars and restaurants showing the games.

Capitol Cider will be hosting as well. They are definitely showing Monday’s US match vs Ghana: http://www.sounderatheart.com/2014/6/11/5801150/sounder-at-heart-official-world-cup-viewing-party

Sounder at Heart and Gorilla FC will be in attendance, should be a good turnout.
