• Man who took infant daughter arrested: Seattle Police swarmed a Capitol Hill apartment building on 14th Ave E Tuesday afternoon after tracking down a man being sought for the alleged kidnapping of his one-month-old daughter:
  Eric Carney, 39, approached his child’s mother in the 5200 block of 15 Ave. N.E. just before noon, threatened her, and then grabbed a stroller—containing their infant daughter—out of her hands. The woman tried to grab the stroller back, Carney attacked her and fled with their child.
• 14/John biker OD: Seattle Fire units were called to 14th and Thomas Sunday night to a report that a man riding his bike had fallen and was suffering a drug overdose. The male in his 20s was unconscious as arriving firefighters began CPR. Medics were able to get a heart rhythm and the victim was transported to Harborview. We have not been able to get an update on his condition from the hospital. According to a person familiar with the incident, the victim’s companion said the male had taken what the two believed to be heroin. The drug was reportedly purchased online.
• E Denny OD: Police and Seattle Fire were called to an apartment building in the 500 block of E Denny Way Monday night after a woman was reported to have been found dead in a bathtub with a needle stuck in her foot. There were no further details of the suspected overdose.
• Cal Anderson OD: Medics and police were called to the bathrooms in Cal Anderson Park Tuesday night around 7:15 after a woman was found suffering from an apparent overdose. We’re checking to see if any more information is available on the woman’s condition.
• Broadway bank robbery suspect strikes again: The suspect in Monday morning’s Broadway bank robbery is believed to be the same man who struck this Belltown bank on Tuesday.Authorities are calling him the “Roscoe Bandit” after the large pistol he has brandished during the hold-ups:
  The Seattle Safe Streets Task Force is seeking information about a bank robber nicknamed the “Roscoe Bandit.”The unidentified bank robber is believed to have robbed at least two different banks in the three days, most recently yesterday in the downtown Seattle neighborhood Belltown.   The subject may be a light-complexioned black male in his late 30s, around 6’0” tall. During the robberies, he’s worn a baseball cap and sunglasses. The robber appears to be armed with a handgun. The apparently long-barreled revolver led investigators to give the bandit a nickname based on an early 19^th century nickname for a handgun. Please see the attached photos for images that may help your audience identify this robber.

  The subject is wanted for his alleged involvement in at least two bank robberies:

  • Monday, July 28, 2014 – HomeStreet Bank on East Broadway, Seattle, WA
  • Tuesday, July 29, 2014 – Wells Fargo Bank, on Third Avenue, Seattle WA 

  Anyone with information as to the identity or whereabouts of the suspected robber should refrain from approaching him and is urged to contact law enforcement immediately. 

  Anyone with information that can help identify this individual is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).  Callers to Crime Stoppers may remain anonymous and are eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $1000.00 if the information given leads to an arrest and charge of the person(s) involved.  Callers may also contact task force officer Detective Steve Hoover at 425-452-7868.

• Mattress fire: Seattle Fire responded to a flaming mattress Tuesday night around 10:15. The bed had been set aflame in front of the construction site at Pike and Summit. There were no reported injuries.
• Juvenile burglars: Police fanned out around the streets near the 200 block of 27th Ave E last Thursday, July 24th after a neighbor spotted young burglars in the act of ripping off a nearby house. Police pursued the thieves through nearby streets as property from the home was dropped as the suspects fled. Two juvenile males were taken into custody.
• Man shot by police in Gas Works Park dies: SPD says the man who was shot by officers after threatening them with a broken bottle in Gas Works early Wednesday has died.
