It’s a weekend for the arts around the neighborhood with November’s art walk and the ceremony to launch the new Capitol Hill arts district as highlights.

moxiposterrr-584x1024As usual, a full line-up for the monthly second-Thursday art walk can be found at capitolhillartwalk.com. November’s walk includes a big party at 13th and Pine thrown by Salon Moxi:

On November 13th, we are hosting a collaborative full of local artists; from beautiful visual art, handcrafted jewelry, to a mobile fashion truck and a live musical performance!!!
Delicious food and refreshments catered by two local food trucks: Plum Burgers (Vegan) and Snout & Co (Soulful food from Cuba to South Carolina).
Join us for an all inclusive evening of entertainment!

On the other end of the Hill, the Visitors Welcome: A Short Run Art Show fills Joe Bar’s gallery.

sr_poster_final_3_81-357x550The Joe Bar show will be an excellent warm-up for the full-on Short Run Comix & Arts Festival Saturday at Washington Hall:

The breathtaking Washington Hall will be filled with a book fair highlighting nearly 200 writers and artists. The first 50 attendees through the door at 11:00 AM will receive a FREE swag bag valued at $40, so don’t be late!

1939808_10152897277027780_5351717788948901038_oSaturday, city officials and artists will gather at Hugo House for a celebration marking the launch of Seattle’s first arts district. CHS wrote here about the program that will promote the neighborhood’s creative venues. Saturday’s event will feature plenty of speeches — and the unveiling of a new collaborative work:

Hear from Mayor Ed Murray; Councilmember Nick Licata; Office of Arts & Culture director, Randy Engstrom; Capitol Hill Housing Foundation Director, Michael Seiwerath and artist Amanda Manitach. A new group artwork curated by Amanda Manitach, demonstrating the vitality and vibrancy of Capitol Hill, will also be unveiled.

After the program, many Capitol Hill culture locations will host open houses in the early afternoon.

Finally, the art of thrift shopping will be on full display Saturday as the new E Pike Out of the Closet store debuts:
