Capitol Hill Broadway Farmers Market

What year did you open on Capitol Hill: 2005

Tell us about your business: Our nonprofit is committed to supporting and strengthening Washington’s small family farm businesses by creating and operating vibrant, successful neighborhood farmers markets. To meet our mission we provide effective direct sales sites for our region’s small farmers, while also educating consumers about local farm products and the importance of supporting and preserving local farmland. In addition, we have been at the forefront of advocating for low income benefits programs to ensure equal food access.

What is the best thing about having a business on Capitol Hill? The Capitol Hill Farmers Market acts as a space were the community can gather. In Capitol Hill, this community is as dynamic and colorful as the produce farmers bring. Everyone wants to come, and no one wants to leave!

Why is it important for people to shop local, especially around the holidays? Through shopping at Farmers Markets, you are directly supporting your local food system, increasing jobs in Washington State, conserving Washington Farmland and improving food security. It is during this time that your dollars are most needed for seed money. The impact of your holiday support is felt throughout the coming year and season.
