I would like to see the building kept intact. Capitalize on the preservation incentives and build taller in the parking lot. The non-profit can expand into the new building, but its core should remain the historic building. It would be a big mistake for Hugo House to destroy itself in the name of expansion. The building and the community organization are intertwined. I don’t see the one surviving without the other. Hugo House is Capitol Hill’s living room. With the loss of the Harvard Exit, it is even more essential to maintain a piece of our cultural history. This building pre-dates auto row. This and the building that house the Wildrose are some of the few buildings of the original capitol hill.

In addition, I would like to see Hugo House partner with other arts organizations to open a theatre space and artist studios.
