As usual, you can find full listings of this month’s shows at capitolhillartwalk.com. CHS is a proud supporter of the monthly event.

This month’s walk is highlighted by the debut of a new gallery from some Capitol Hill art-stars in the former Pound Gallery space at 10th and Union. The Factory pairs Amanda Manitach and (past CHS contributorTimothy Rysdyke in “a gallery, work space, think space where superstars shimmer and art happen.”

Manitach shared with CHS some of her hopes for the new project:

We’re looking forward to running a space with no curatorial constraints or limitations. It can be as weird or wild and wonderful as we want. We took the name from Warhol, obviously. We painted our door liquid silver! And our bar is wallpapered in foil. Timothy and I have been obsessed with Warhol’s Factory since we first met three years ago. He made and exhibited a screen test of me at his show at Cairo shortly after we met. He has a super vintage, giant boxy Polaroid camera from the era and he takes photos of everyone. We maybe have a little Andy and Edie complex between the two of us.

Manitach said she and Rysdyke also have “a small and amazing brain trust (for lack of a better term at the moment) of supporters who are also contributing to running and curating the space” including “artist and tech wizard” Janet Galore.

We’ll have more on the space soon. You can check it out Thursday from 6 to 11 PM at Welcome to the Factory:

The Factory, a new Capitol Hill art gallery and event space, is excited to open its doors on March 12th. Please join us to celebrate our debut with drinks and an opening exhibit featuring new paintings, mirror pieces, and video installations by Brittany Kusa & Joe Garber.

Meanwhile, you can also check out Calypte, a new “apartment gallery” across from Cal Anderson:

Cullom Gallery is pleased to announce its participation in the inaugural exhibit of Calypte Gallery, on Thursday, March 12th, from 5:3 to 9:30 pm, with a presentation of the exhibit “To Be Determined”, featuring new, site-specific works by Robert Hardgrave.

An apartment gallery located in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle, Calypte Gallery, presents one-night only exhibits on a monthly basis, featuring the work of local and regional artists in all media. Exhibit selection will occur through a series of artist referrals, whereby a current month’s exhibiting artist recommends the artist or artists for the following month, and so on. This decentralized web of curation provides a powerful platform for the artist’s eye in the process of curation and presentation of work.
