Blotter | Cops find big bag of pot at Volunteer Park robbery scene, groper arrest at Capitol Hill Block Party

  • Volunteer Park robbery: Police investigating a reported armed robbery inside Volunteer Park found there was more to the story as they looked for evidence Thursday night. In the incident reported just before 9:30 PM, police found the victim covered in blood and reporting he was beaten, hit with pepper spray, and robbed by a male and a female:Screen Shot 2015-07-31 at 11.15.56 AMThe duo was last seen riding BMX-style bicycles toward Broadway. The man reported he believed he had been stabbed. Seattle Fire was called to the scene to treat his wounds. As police searched the area near the reservoir for evidence, one officer found a large bag full of marijuana. The pot was returned to the victim, according to police radio dispatches. There were no immediate arrests.
  • Broadway knife threat: A tense incident involving police drawing their guns on a man believed to be mentally ill and armed with butcher knife near Broadway and Pike Saturday night played out as Capitol Hill Block Party crowds danced nearby:
    Screen Shot 2015-07-31 at 11.44.40 AMPolice say the incident began after the suspect had entered a nearby store and asked to borrow a stapler before becoming agitated and leaving the business. He returned and became even more agitated, throwing marijuana at workers inside the store who called police. The suspect then returned a third time and stood outside the shop with the large butcher knife, yelling “This if for you!,” witnesses told police. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident after the brief standoff. The suspect was taken to King County Jail to be booked for investigation of harassment. Police also designated the suspect as “object to release” due to his “apparent mental illness.”
  • CHBP groping arrest: Police were investigating after a woman at Capitol Hill Block Party punched a man she and other victims said was groping festival-goers:

    One victim told officers she was dancing on the dance floor when a man approached her from behind and started to grind on her, police reports say. He then slid his hands up her shirt and grabbed her bare breasts, according to the probable cause report. The woman reportedly pushed the man away and told him to get off her. He walked away.

    The 20-year-old male suspect was arrested and booked for investigation of indecent liberties and a drug violation.

  • Broadway tip jar thrower busted for coke: The suspect in an assault at a nightclub near Broadway and Pike who reportedly threw the tip jar at staff got busted for a more serious transgression:Screen Shot 2015-07-31 at 11.37.37 AMDuring a search of the suspect, police found a small baggie in his pants pocket that officers said contained a half gram of white powder believed to be cocaine. The suspect told police that while the pants were, indeed, his, he hadn’t worn them in a year. The suspect was booked for investigation of assault and drug possession.
  • Lakeview robbery: An early morning robbery reported at Belmont and Lakeview apparently stemmed from a dispute between a man and a woman involving a vacuum cleaner. Police were called to the area just before 3 AM last Sunday to a report of four people fighting in the street, one armed with what appeared to be a baseball bat. Police arrived to find a female victim at the scene saying she had been robbed. Police followed the walking and biking path along I-5 and found two males matching the suspect descriptions. One male identified as the primary suspect was taken into custody. Before being taken to jail, the male suspect allowed police to retrieve a vacuum cleaner belonging to the woman from the trunk of his Lincoln Towncar he had left at the scene before fleeing.
  • Eastlake burglary suspect’s watery escape chilled: The suspect in an early Monday morning burglary of an Eastlake apartment tried to take a swim in Lake Union to escape:Screen Shot 2015-07-31 at 11.30.09 AMThe suspect reportedly had leapt into the water with a cooler full of some of the $3,000 in goods he allegedly stole in the heist:Screen Shot 2015-07-31 at 11.29.10 AMPolice report that only about $900 of the items taken in the burglary were recovered.
  • Bellevue Ave burglary suspect: This guy who allegedly burgled “a housing facility on Bellevue Ave. in lower Capitol Hill” got caught on video.
