Blotter | Theft from Pike/Broadway street beer vendor leads to broken bottle fight

  • Street beer robbery: SPD investigated an “armed robbery” early last Sunday morning involving a broken bottle brawl over the theft of a couple brews from a beer peddling street entrepreneur. It happened, naturally, at Broadway and Pike. According to the SPD report on the incident, a male who showed up at a local hospital with a cut to his wrist told police he was out partying on Capitol Hill around 1:45 AM when he saw the thief apparently stealing the beer from the street sales clerk. “You need to put that back,” the victim told police he said before the fight broke out.   • Broadway beer beating: Speaking of Broadway and Pike, police were looking for a suspect who apparently beat a man and knocked out two of his front teeth in a rage after being rejected in his attempt to purchase beer at the Shell station just after 2 AM on July 16th:

  • Broadway robbery trio: The victim in a Broadway/Columbia street robbery just after 10 PM on July 13th said her attackers were three females:Screen Shot 2015-07-22 at 2.49.56 PMThe victim fell and bruised herself when trying to pursue the thieves but did not require medical attention.   • Cal Anderson pepper spray incident: A man found washing pepper spray from his eyes in Cal Anderson Park wasn’t the victim in an assault investigated by SPD on July 18th just after 11 PM:

The suspect, who had been repeatedly trespassed from Cal Anderson, faces trespassing charges in the incident.
  • 12th Ave road rage: A woman who lives in a 12th Ave building reported she was threatened by another driver with a gun in an incident sparked by early morning traffic just before 7 AM on July 15th:

  • Messy 11th Ave E burglary: Thousands of dollars worth of goods including more than $2,000 in jewelry were taken in a burglary and ransacking at an apartment in the 200 block of 11th Ave E in a break-in reported July 13th:Screen Shot 2015-07-22 at 2.45.36 PMPolice found a small sliding window had been pried open to gain access to the building.
  • Water theft: SPD picked up a burglary suspect with an outstanding warrant after police were called to a report of drug activity and the man was caught allegedly stealing water from a hose during the recent heat wave in the 500 block of Summit Ave E:Screen Shot 2015-07-22 at 2.23.24 PMThe suspect maintained he used the hose to save the life of a man he was with but police say that person had left the scene of the July 16, 9:30 AM incident without requesting medical attention.
  • Leaf blower burglary: In our continuing series of incidents showing that thieves will steal anything, a leaf blower was reported stolen last week from a locked storage area on the Cornish campus on E Roy. The machine was last seen June 20th.
  • Dumpster fire: Seattle Fire responded quickly to a reported dumpster fire early Wednesday morning outside an apartment building at Boylston and Pike. There were no injuries and damage was limited to the outside of the building.
