After a brief Labor Day break, Fat’s Chicken and Waffles is back to work at MLK and Cherry.

The soul food joint from nightlife, entertainment, and fashion entrepreneur Marcus Lalario in the longtime home of the legendary Catfish Corner quietly opened in late August and is still keeping things mostly on the down low. But they’re open and ready to serve starting around 4:30 PM Tuesday. An announcement of regular hours is to come. Keep track of the Fat’s Facebook page for updates.

“I ate at Catfish Corner all the time,” Lalario told CHS in April. “To be able to get that spot means more to me than anything else about the new venture.”

Meanwhile, things are also rounding into shape at 12th and Jefferson where a new Nate’s Wings and Waffles is expanding from its Rainier Beach home turf.
