  • Hate crime charges: 24-year-old Joseph Marsh faces hate crime charges for allegedly pulling a knife and using an anti-gay slur in an incident outside R Place in the early hours of November 9th. The incident made SPD’s blotter after Marsh’s alleged outburst over being complimented on his boots. According to police, after Marsh threatened to kill the man who complimented his Timberlands outside R Place, he tried to enter the Unicorn but was stopped by an employee because he appeared intoxicated and had an expired ID. Marsh also faces an additional harassment charge after allegedly stabbing the Unicorn’s front door before his arrest. Marsh, who was already wanted on a warrant at the time of his arrest, has past convictions for second degree robbery and assault and remains jailed on $100,000 bail.
  • Seattle murder suspect convicted of armed-robbery: Ali Muhammad Brown, the accused killer who claimed political motivations for a murder spree that included the 2014 Central District slaying of two men he met after a night out on Capitol Hill, has been convicted in New Jersey of unrelated armed-robbery charges. Seattle Police say Brown killed 27-year-old Ahmed Said and 23-year-old Dwone Anderson-Young in a “premeditated” and “unprovoked” June 1st attack at 29th and King. While Brown faces charges in the Seattle slayings, a murder and terrorism case against the suspect for a New Jersey killing is also underway.
  • Rape sentence: A man convicted of raping women he met through sex ads including the attack of a 25-year-old erotic masseuse police say he raped inside her Capitol Hill apartment in March 2014 has been sentenced to 33 years in prison, according to court documents. The Seattle Times reported Christopher Beck, 30, was convicted for a string of attacks that occurred over a two-week period in 2014. In October, a King County Superior Court judge sentenced Beck to more than 30 years in jail. The conviction has been appealed.
  • 2014 Central District rape charges: DNA analysis has led to charges against a Washington prisoner for the 2014 rape of a 17-year-old in the Central District. The Seattle PI reports that Senoble Smith IV, 25, faces charges for the attack. Smith is currently incarcerated for domestic violence-related crimes.
  • E Pike brawl: Police were called after a gun was pulled during a brawl involving around 30 patrons broke out inside an E Pike nightspot over the weekend. According to the SPD report on the incident, police were called to the unnamed establishment in the 900 block of E Pike around 2 AM Sunday morning. Staff told police it took about 10 minutes to break up the brawl during which employees were assaulted. An employee said he had a gun pulled on him by one of the combatants as staff tried to push the crowd outside. The employee said he knocked the gun from the assailant’s hand “but lost sight of it in the crowd of people.” Officers were told the venue would provide security video of the incident to police.
  • Broadway baseball bat beating: Police responding to a trespassing call Sunday afternoon documented an assault on a Broadway homeless person after noticing the man had been severely beaten:Screen Shot 2015-11-18 at 4.23.37 PMThe man told police he was attacked with a baseball bat in a dispute with another transient:

  • 23rd ave ransacking: A woman called police around 10 PM on Veterans Day to report her home in the 1800 block of 23rd Ave near E Madison had been ransacked. The messy burglary netted the thief or thieves around $1,900 in goods including two laptops. Police believe an unlocked basement window provided access for the burglary.

“the unnamed establishment in the 900 block of E Pike” …so which one was it that had a 30-person brawl inside?

How on earth was the man who killed two young men in our neighborhood in 2014 not locked up in prison? I definitely remember them figuring out who it was a few years ago and it is tragic that he went on to kill another person, according to the report. Those murders in our neighborhood were heartbreaking and it is infuriating knowing that this man was able to inflict further pain. Didn’t they catch him a year ago?

He has been in jail the whole time, he is just getting tried and convicted of other things too.

It sure does. Sometimes reading the Blotter is very depressing. This is one of those times. Mean streets.
