  • Miller Park peeper: Police are looking for the suspect in a series of indecent exposure and peeping incidents around 17th and Thomas in Capitol Hill’s Miller Park neighborhood after an incident early last Thursday morning in which a woman said she was chased by the man. The suspect, police say, has made some unusual fall fashion choices — he’s been seen wearing cut-off denim shorts and a long black or brown wig. If you think you might be able to help identify the suspect, call SPD’s Special Assault Unit at 684-5575 or call 911.

A man dressed in a long wig and cutoff denim shorts reportedly chased a woman in the Miller Park neighborhood early Thursday, and police are now investigating whether he may have also exposed himself to other women in the area.

Last Thursday, a woman was walking east on 15th Avenue East and East Thomas Street around 2 AM when she passed the suspect, who was headed the opposite direction on the street. She soon noticed the man was following her, and had one hand down his pants. When the man greeted the woman, she crossed the street and began walking down the middle of the road so she would remain under the street lights. As she approached 17th Ave. E, she noticed the suspect dashing toward her and took off running and screamed for help. She was able to flag down a car several blocks away and got a ride home, where she called 911.

Police weren’t able to locate the man, who the victim describe as being 6’0, with a medium build, 25-35 years old, wearing cut-off denim shorts and a long black or brown wig.

Investigators are reviewing five other incidents involving a similarly-described suspect, who has reportedly peered into or knocked on the windows of several womens’ apartments, sometimes while masturbating.

The five incidents took place in October and November, between 10 and 11 AM and 1 and 2 AM, all within a few blocks of 17th Ave E. and E. Thomas Street.

If you have any information about this suspect, please contact SPD’s Special Assault Unit at 684-5575 or call 911.

  • 19th Ave E burglary interrupted: A police K9 unit searched the area around 19th Ave and Thomas Monday night after a resident returned home to find the residence being burglarized. A male in a grey jacket, black hoodie, and wearing white gloves fled the area and was last seen on Thomas around 4:45 PM. Police searched the area around Miller Community Center for around an hour but we do not yet know now if there was an arrest.
