- The cough syrup defense: The legal team for Louis Chen, accused of stabbing his partner and young son to death inside a First Hill condo in August 2011, is preparing to mount an unusual defense for the doctor.
- Anti-DUI effort: To give Capitol Hill revelers yet another safe option vs driving drunk or high this New Year’s Eve — and beyond — Seattle officials rolled out a new partnership with ride service Lyft to provide discounted and free rides in the city’s nightlife neighborhoods including Pike/Pine and Broadway.
- TV: A ‘shattered’ Pike/Pine starred in a Mercedes-Benz ad.
- Road rage arrest: Police arrested two 22-year-olds after one allegedly flashed a handgun in a road rage incident on Capitol Hill.
- NYE protest: One person was reported taken into custody during the annual “Noise Demo” protest against the juvenile jail at 12th and Alder.
