Capitol Hill Pets | Barley at Chop Suey

IMG_5177

Barley, a fan of the Puppy Bowl, found his way to Chop Suey with his humans for a few beers and some socializing a few Sundays back. Barley is a 6-year-old Chihuahua/Pomeranian mix who was picked up in Las Vegas before making his way to the Pacific Northwest. He is loved for his super chill attitude and adorable underbite.

Motley Zoo, part of the Chop’s Puppy Bowl Sunday party, is a foster-based organization that exists to support overflowing shelters or animals with behavioral issues, however they don’t take strays off streets. Each animal lives with families and each animal has profile online to help with matching up humans to pets. There is an application process so there is no same day adoption. Motley Zoo is based out of Redmond and also runs dog daycare and training center (Rockstar Training) to help supplement costs of running a foster organization. They currently have about 30 animals, but at one point had over 120. They have 115 volunteers and around 55 are signed up to foster dogs and cats. If you’re interested in being a pet owner, you can find more information at motleyzoo.org.

We ask photographer Alex Garland to follow marchers in the rain and do crazy things like trying to make yet another picture of yet another huge apartment building look interesting. We thought we’d ask him to do something a little more fun. Capitol Hill Pets is a semi-regular look at our furry, fuzzy, feathered, and finned friends found out and about on Capitol Hill.

Good call, Tom. Can’t have those crap-covered paws on the bar where food and drinks are served.

It’d be nice if these pet owners realize that not all pets belongs in a restaurant, grocery store, coffee shop etc.

I’m pet friendly but don’t feel they should be in these establishments (unless it’s catered for them). How inconsiderate.

Did you read the whole article? Perhaps you missed the part about this being an adoption event for dogs that need homes?
I can guarantee all dogs present were vaccinated. However, I cannot say the same for the toddlers sharing brunch over at Oddfellows.

Regardless of what the event was about it doesn’t exempt the restaurant from Federal, State and Local laws forbidding pets from being in food service establishments.
