Saturday afternoon at the amphitheater in Volunteer Park, loved ones of the victims — and the survivors — of the March 25th, 2006 shooting at a Capitol Hill house party set up a DJ table, rolled out a few blankets, and remembered their friends:

Melissa Moore, 14
Justin Schwarz, 22
Suzanne Thorne, 15
Jason Travers, 32
Christopher Williamson, 21

Saturday’s memorial was public but small with word of the gathering spreading in the same way a dance or arts community shares an event. Some brought their dogs, others their kids, and balloons with the names of the remembered were released. The focus was on the people and not the violence.
