Capitol Hill’s V2 arts space to host Punk Rock Flea Market 2016

With a fresh coat of paint, the V2 arts space temporarily filling the destined-for-development Value Village building on 11th Ave is also filling up its summer schedule.

PRFM-SAFEOne newly announced highlight: Seattle’s Punk Rock Flea Market is set to come to Capitol Hill in the space this summer, Saturday and Sunday, June 25th and 26th:

The back-from-the-ashes PRFM is going to be at the old Value Village store on Capitol Hill (now known as V2) on 11th Avenue between Pike and Pine streets. It’s a fantastic location, a beautiful space with lots of lights and many WORKING TOILETS, and probably some of the best foot traffic in the whole city.

The date is set for Saturday and Sunday June 25 and 26. We are back to single weekend, but we are expanding the market to 2 days. The market will be open on Saturday from noon to 10:00 PM, and on Sunday from noon to 5:00 PM.

The 2016 market was being planned for the old Lusty Lady building but safety issues forced organizers to scramble in search of a new home. The change has worked out in Capitol Hill’s favor — but PRFM will need to raise additional funds:

We put ourselves in a bit of financial hole at the Lusty Lady. The money we spent on building supplies, on printing, on permits and insurance is gone forever. For the first time ever, vendor fees alone won’t quite cover expenses so we are going to have a small fundraiser for the PRFM. In a matter of days we’re going to have sweet PRFM T-shirts and patches for sale, designed by our friend and co-conspirator C.M. Ruiz. Please think about buying one and wearing your PRFM colors with pride.

Organizers are also not yet on the hunt for vendors to supply items and curiosities new and vintage for the Capitol Hill edition. The people signed up for the Lusty Lady version will get first dibs before any remaining spots are doled out under the “usual first-come first-served process.”

Created by the Capitol Hill Arts District, the 30,000-square-foot V2 space is being put to use for dance performance, offices, rental studios, and storage under the guidance of Tonya Lockyer, Velocity Dance Center’s artistic director and co-chair of the Capitol Hill Arts District.

In 2015, the Punk Rock Flea Market landed in the Central District in the old post office space in the MidTown Center. It will join a healthy schedule of shopping pop-ups around Capitol Hill including Badwill MarketThe Savvy Marketplace, and the Seattle Markers Market.
