  • CD shooting: More gun violence near 27th and Spring injured a 96-year-old woman overnight. Police are calling the shooting in the 900 block of 27th Ave around 12:45 AM Monday a “targeted shooting” —
Police are investigating after a Central District home was targeted in a drive-by shooting early Monday morning, leaving a 96-year-old woman with non-life-threatening injuries. Officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 900 block of 27th Avenue at about 12:45 am, but were not able to immediately locate any suspects or property damage. Several hours later, around 4:50 am, police were again called to the same block, this time by the victim’s granddaughter, who reported her grandmother had sustained a gunshot wound to her leg. While police believe the elderly victim may have not been the intended target of this shooting, officers have responded to the home on numerous occasions to investigate shootings and other crimes targeting her other family members who also reside at the home. Seattle Fire responded and treated the 96-year-old victim for her injury and transported her to Harborview Medical Center for further treatment. Her injury is believed to be non-life-threatening. Officers recovered shell casings from in front of the house. Gang Unit detectives are investigating the incident.CHS reported earlier this month on a shooting in the same area of 27th. A male victim with a gunshot wound was dropped off at a nearby hospital following that shooting. Police have not announced any arrests in that incident.
  • Trans-bashing investigation: Police are still looking for assistance in gathering more information about the beating of Michael Volz. If you were in the area of 11th and Pike on Wednesday, June 22nd around 11:30 PM and saw anything that might help investigators, call the SPD Violent Crimes tip line at (206) 233-5000.
  • Boylston barricade situation resolved: A standoff involving a woman suffering a mental crisis inside a Boylston Ave E apartment building was resolved peacefully Monday just after noon. According to residents, the woman suffers from mental illness and has been suffering episodes of crisis. Monday morning, she reportedly was armed with a hammer and making threats. Several SPD units and SWAT were called and a negotiator was speaking with the woman before she climbed out a first floor window of the building and was taken into custody for transport to a hospital.
  • 20/Dearborn police shooting update: The Central District man shot by police responding to a domestic violence call June 19th has been charged with assault and the incident has prompted an internal review at SPD. Michael Uivary was reported in serious condition at Harborview and has been charged with second-degree assault. SPD’s Force Review Board is investigating Officer Sarah Velling’s decision to shoot.

  • Weapons incident: If you were one of the hundreds of people to see tons of police cars and officers with weapons drawn in this June 19th incident at Pine and Bellevue, we’ve finally pieced together what went down. Just before 7:30 PM that evening, a male in a Chevy impala reportedly threatened a woman at Dick’s with a gun. Police spotted the car on Pine and began following the vehicle. The car was stopped at Bellevue where it was cleared and two occupants were taken into custody. Adding to the crazy scene? A male was treated by fire after reporting that his foot was run over by a car during the response.

  • Huffing while driving: Police responded to a car crash near Summit and Pine that ultimately led to a medical call at Belmont and Pike where a driver required assistance after reportedly “huffing” while driving. Police were investigating the possible DUI.
  • Bellevue Ave crash: Hey, slow down on Bellevue Ave:

  • Happy ending to CD coffee shop burglary: A June 23rd break-in at 23rd Ave’s 701 Coffee had the best possible outcome you can imagine. After posting a picture of the suspect to social media, 701 Coffee reported a few days later that the suspect “turned self into police” and returned the stolen items:

  • Community center break-in: Police investigated a reported burglary that netted a thief $120 in cash from 19th Ave E’s Russian Community Center earlier this month:Screen Shot 2016-06-27 at 12.48.44 PM
  • Man ruins self-checkout… forever: SPD shared this report on a Wednesday, June 22nd incident at the Broadway Market QFC that will make you forever regret not bagging your produce:
East Precinct officers arrested a 31-year-old man Wednesday night after he flashed employees and befouled a self-checkout machine at a Capitol Hill grocery store. Around 5 PM, employees at the store in the 400 block of Broadway E noticed the man standing at a self-checkout machine, laughing to himself as he placed his genitals on top of the scanner of a self-checkout machine. The man fled the store but returned five hours later, and was confronted by employees. Employees told the man to leave, but he refused and got into a shoving match with store security before leaving the store. Officers later arrested the man at Broadway E and E Harrison Street and booked him into the King County Jail for indecent exposure.Local headline writers have had some fun:
