Outdoor summer events on Capitol Hill roll on in August with an E Pine staple of stiff drinks and loud music. Saturday, six bands will take over the back parking lot of Linda’s Tavern for the 7th annual “raddest free rock show of the summer.”

Linda’s Fest goes down August 20th and features a slate from Seattle’s punk scene:

  • Fred & Toddy of Dead Moon
  • Acapulco Lips
  • Steal Shit Do Drugs
  • Sashay
  • Bad Future
  • World Bank

This year’s festival will also be the first to be surrounded by a fully occupied Pike Motorworks building. CHS previously wrote here about the flood of new apartments towering above Capitol Hill’s nightlife venues.

Brochure_11x17_HalfFold_CSLinda’s Tavern is the elder sibling in Linda Derschang’s family of bars and restaurants and has been in the neighborhood for 22 years. The fest was born when Linda’s staff members created an event where all their bands could play.

As for another August free music mainstay, 2016 brought bad news. The Summit Block Party is on hiatus. Last year, DIY festival organizer Adam Way made strides in raising the festival’s game, like getting permits and selling merch to fundraise for the Vera Project.

The volunteer-run event typically funded though house shows has been the “real block party” for some. In the meantime, Way’s Way & Co Presents continues to throw some of the more interesting shows around Capitol Hill, like getting a handful of bands to play the Rancho Bravo patio ahead of this year’s Capitol Hill Block Party.
