pikePed1nodes pikePed2side pikePed3largeTo compile its final report and plan for test events later this year, the Seattle Department of Transportation is collecting community feedback on two final components of how a Pike/Pine pedestrian zone should work: layout and timing. Do you want a “Nodes,” “Side Saddle,” or “Large” layout? Are there specific days and times in September and October you would like to see the test transitions of Pike and nearby streets into pedestrian plazas?

CHS told you about your options for shaping the Pike People Street plan earlier this month. SDOT is also looking for people to get involved “activating the street” and participating during the planned test events. Feedback on the proposals is due by 5PM on Friday, August 19th. You can learn more and add your comments on the SDOT Pedestrian Program page.

SDOT planner Seth Geiser tells CHS this last call for feedback on the program has already generated a “surprising” level of responses. Interest in the program is clearly high. Geiser hopes you also consider what kind of People Street would also compel you to attend and be part of an ongoing, sustainable, longterm program. “Think about how you might participate,” Geiser said. CHS is dropping in its suggestion for a “media lounge” ASAP.
