Blotter | First Hill robbery, minivan into building in CD, Montlake OD

  • First Hill robbery: A woman calling from Harborview reported she was robbed at gunpoint just blocks from the First Hill hospital early Friday morning. Police were called to the area after the 4 AM robbery to search for two suspects described only as white males, one wearing red, who left the area in a sedan-type car. There were no reported injuries in the hold-up. The victim reported her purse and phone were stolen in the heist.

    The injured driver and at least one other occupant reportedly fled the scene after a minivan smashed into a townhouse building along 23rd Ave Wednesday night. Police and Seattle Fire responded but could not track down the vehicle’s occupants. Witnesses said the driver appeared to have an injured leg from the crash. Seattle Fire said nobody was home in the building on 23rd Ave near E Jefferson at the time of the crash just before 7:45 PM Wednesday. We’ve asked for more information about whether the Red Cross was called in to help provide housing for anybody affected by the damage but haven’t yet heard back.

  • $6k Boylston burglary: A business in the 100 block of Boylston described as a “club and recording studio” reported that some $6,000 worth of recording equipment was stolen in a break-in earlier this month:screen-shot-2016-09-30-at-11-58-20-amInside, police found a finger print on a knife with metal shavings that may have been used in the burglary.
  • Montlake OD: It wasn’t Seattle Fire but Seattle Police who were first to the scene of a reported overdose in Montlake Wednesday night. Officer rushed to the 2200 block of E Calhoun to assist as the operator was instructing the 911 caller with CPR at the scene. When Seattle Fire arrived, the man in his 30s was reported as still unconscious and unresponsive as he was rushed to Harborview.
  • ‘Cute dog’ attack: The victims beaten and cut in an early morning September 17th Pike/Pine robbery told police the situation began when they jokingly said that a dog with a group of apparently homeless campers was so cute, they wanted to steal it:
    screen-shot-2016-09-30-at-10-14-32-amPolice found the victims of the just after midnight robbery at 10th and Pike with cuts and blood on their clothing from the attack. According to the report on the incident, police recognized the suspects from a previous contact in the area. There were no immediate arrests.
  • E Madison phone grab: Police were able to collect video and track the phone grabbed in an E Madison mugging reported late Friday night, September 16th:screen-shot-2016-09-30-at-10-06-26-amDuring the investigation of the 11:30 PM mugging, an employee at a nearby business told police the robbery was caught on camera. The victim also used phone tracking to show the officers that the stolen device was currently in the area of a parking lot on Broadway. According to the SPD report on the incident, officers responding to that area did not find a person matching the suspect description.
  • Library robbery: Police responded to a reported robbery outside the Capitol Hill library on Sunday, September 18 around 5:30 PM. According to the report, the victim said he stepped outside to make a phone call when the incident went down:screen-shot-2016-09-30-at-11-36-10-amThe victim told police the backpack was empty.
  • Cal Anderson threats: A woman was taken into custody after threatening people with a gold knife in a September 15th incident in Cal Anderson Park. According to the report on the early evening incident, one witness decided to call police about the woman’s threatening behavior:screen-shot-2016-09-30-at-12-06-39-pmAccording to the report, the woman was taken into custody and booked into jail for investigation of harassment.
  • Lewd burglar bust: Two officers were injured taking a man into custody for burglary after he entered a shed behind a home in the 900 block of Federal Ave E and reportedly made lewd comments to a woman working in the yard, according to the SPD report on the Wednesday, September 21st incident:screen-shot-2016-09-30-at-11-41-27-amAccording to the report, the man was booked into jail for investigation of assault, burglary, and resisting arrest.
  • Harvard Exit burglary: Police investigated an overnight burglary reported Wednesday, September 21st at the Harvard Exit construction site. There were no details of what the thief made off with but police were documenting “numerous” victims in the work site ripoff. Police were unable to determine how the thief accessed the under construction building.
  • 12th Ave cash heist: A recently targeted office in the 1800 block of 12th Ave was hit again in a September burglary that netted the thief $550 in cash:screen-shot-2016-09-30-at-12-04-10-pm
