Lifelong Thrift has called 312 Broadway East home for nearly two years. With a hand-full of locations over more than 20 years, Lifelong Thrift has always had its heart in Seattle’s Capitol Hill. At the new location, the store has thrived with generous community donations and an expansive new storefront.
The staff at Lifelong Thrift is proud to announce that the community’s overwhelming support has brought us to over 5,000 volunteer hours so far in 2016.
From college-aged service learners, retirees, and long-term Lifelong supporters to our philanthropic neighbors, Seattleites have come together to give the greatest gift of all — their time.
Each hour volunteered at Lifelong Thrift promotes the store’s financial success. Visual merchandising, customer service and processing donations are some of the many ways to support our nonprofit. Volunteers work alongside our small, yet engaged, staff.
Every item sold at Lifelong Thrift benefits Lifelong’s work delivering services to people living with chronic illnesses, including HIV & AIDS. Lifelong has been an institution deeply-rooted in the Seattle community since 1983. With its food, housing, and health focuses, there are many ways to get involved with Lifelong. The thrift store is just one of them.
“We welcome in so many unique individuals. One of our volunteers is calling Seattle home after a move across the world. Many are teens looking for work experience. Some have either benefitted from or participated in other Lifelong works and cannot get enough of the cause. Some were customers! I can’t express how appreciative we are of their contributions every day here at the store,” says Dylan Austin, who oversees Lifelong Thrift’s volunteer program.
