CHS Pics | Sawant, McGinn talk activism at Peloton Cafe and Bike Shop

District 3 representative Kshama Sawant and former Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn spoke to a captivated audience at a packed Peloton Cafe and Bike Shop Friday evening about activism.

“What matters is where you stand at the end of the day,” Sawant said about her efforts on the Seattle City Council.

“I just can’t encourage you enough,” McGinn told the group about getting involved with social justice issues.

Be:Seattle, a nonprofit founded by Devin Silvernail, organized the event under its effort to help the homeless — The Pledge. Businesses can elect to participate by placing stickers in their windows letting those in need know they can use the restroom, get water or other services there.

Silvernail said he plans to hold similar events in the future.
