Re: 23rd and Union shooting at Earl’s. This is one surefire way to guarantee that no one in the surrounding neighborhood will bat an eye when that whole block is leveled to make way for a bland, soulless apartment complex with a Supercuts on the ground floor.

At the end of the day, most people will choose gentrification over random gun violence and a “no snitching” attitude.

Seeing as the suspect walked in and clearly targeted the victim, I should have omitted random and simply left it at gun violence.

It’s really unfortunate that the “no snitching” ethos has become embedded in Black culture. The end result is that serious crimes go unsolved. I’ll bet at least one person in that barber shop knows exactly who the shooter is.

Some excuse this lack of cooperation by saying that witnesses are afraid of retaliation if they cooperate. That’s BS…..they can do so anonymously if they wish.
