Old Value Village building will go out with holiday Punk Rock Flea Market

CHS broke the news earlier this year about just how temporary the temporary arts space V2 really is as the project bought a year for dance and performance on 11th Ave. We know what the planned preservation and development project set to replace the old Value Village will eventually look like. Now we know how the auto row-era building that housed the popular vintage store will go out before the demolition and preservation process sets in.

The Punk Rock Flea Market announced this week it is planning a final three-day, music-soaked blowout for the old VV space:

Featuring painfully beautiful live music ALL THREE NIGHTS starting at 8:00PM. Confirmed bands to date include the Fe Fi Fo Fums, Childbirth, The Solvents and the Bucharest Drinking Team. Many more to be announced shortly! + a well-curated selection music spun all day by DJ Port-a- Party, DJ Brrnt Zaa, DJ Boo Berry, DJ TJ, DJ John F and cameo performances from DJ’s who should know better. Look what ol’ Santa dropped through the ceiling of the V2! It’s the PUNK ROCK FLEA MARKET! Just in time to meet your obsessive/compulsive holiday needs, the PRFM is coming back to the V2 on Capitol Hill (formerly know as Value Village) on 11th Avenue between Pike and Pine streets.

The December visit will mark PRFM’s second tour of duty in the space. The event also put the building to use in May.

The V2 project administered by Velocity Dance and the Capitol Hill Arts District opened the space to rehearsals, community meetings, and events since the Halloween 2015 closure of Value Village as the retailer made way before planned redevelopment of the block. V2 could end up as a blueprint for future temporary arts use of empty buildings around the neighborhood and Seattle. A preservation-friendly five-story office building and commercial project is being planned for the block of 11th Ave where the landmarks board-protected building stands.

Meanwhile, Wednesday night brings a different sort of activation to this area of Pike/Pine as a new weekly farmers night market begins at Chophouse Row.
