Capitol Hill Community Post | Windermere Capitol Hill Hosts Holiday Clothing and Gift Drive

gI_137578_imgresBroker Pat Grimm is proud to announce that Windermere Capitol Hill, to cap a year of giving, is hosting a holiday clothing and gift drive, with items collected from Windermere Capitol Hill agents. “We are working with Madrona School and Catholic Community Services to adopt/sponsor a number of families and help them out with their ‘wants and needs’ Christmas wish lists,” said Grimm, owner of Windermere Capitol Hill. “We also created two sponsor teams to help the Gender Justice League and Horn of Africa Services. We have adopted six families total, and any other donations/surplus we get will go to Horn of Africa Services and Gender Justice League.”

Catholic Community Services and Madrona School are two organizations that Windermere Capitol Hill has proudly been working with for many years. “They count on our donations and sponsorships to help with the demand of the families they serve,” added Grimm. Gender Justice League, which empowers trans activists to fight oppression based on gender and sexuality in Washington State, and Horn of Africa Services, a nonprofit that serves the East African immigrant and refugee community in Seattle, are two new organizations that Windermere Capitol Hill is sponsoring this year.

“Our office wanted to spread the way we help into different threads through our community,” noted Grimm. “Although we love to help families, these other two organizations reach out to those that need help through the holiday season that might not be represented in other places.”

Windermere Capitol Hill is no stranger to giving. Throughout 2016, it has supported numerous charities and organizations, including Amara, which works to ensure that every child in foster care has the love, support and comfort of a committed family; Babes Network, a peer education and support program for women living with HIV; Capitol Hill Housing, which builds vibrant and engaged communities in Seattle through affordable housing and works to improve the Capitol Hill neighborhood for all; and the GD Association, whose purpose is to eliminate homelessness in the area by providing housing for low-income and at-risk teen parent families, the elderly and disabled persons. Windermere Capitol Hill also supports the Three Dollar Bill Cinema, which strengthens, connects and reflects diverse communities through LGBT film and media; and participates in the annual Seattle Pride Parade.

“We love that our office is helping our own community,” concluded Grimm. “We love to help Seattle as a whole, but the four organizations we are supporting this holiday season are specifically in our community and neighborhood. With the market as crazy as it has been, it’s nice to take the time to help those in need when we have the opportunity and chance to do it.”
