Capitol Hill does Christmas a little differently. But we would wager there is more holiday spirit in a single branch of the E Pike No Parking Baby Doll Tree than in the entire advertising-wrapped tree in front of the Westlake mall. That spirit will be out and about this weekend with a legendarily festive holiday bar crawl, Broadway merchants putting on their seasonal best and inviting an “alternative” Santa to the party for pictures, and plenty more.

First, the even better news. Seattle’s Santacon insanity is focused wholly on venues safely across I-5 this year. Most of the white beards you see Saturday night belong to these happy Mistletomosexuals:

The plan is to begin massing around 9:00 pm at CC Attle’s. CC’s is big enough to hold most, if not all of us. From there, we’ll begin our march on Broadway to the Pike-Pine corridor around 10 pm. We’ll patronize Diesel, Madison Pub, Purr, and Pony…

Before the march, spend Saturday shopping. The Seattle Unique Boutique brings more than 50 vendors with drink specials to Q nightclub. Meanwhile, Broadway merchants are rallying around the Capitol Hill Chamber of Commerce for a day of “Holiday Cheer” — you’ll find the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence caroling and “alternative” pictures with Santa:
