The quiet start to 2017 is over for Neumos and the live music venue at the corner of 10th and Pike is ready to unveil the results of its overhaul — and a new form for its next door lounge.

Let’s start with the music. Neumos and its underground sibling Barboza now have a new sound and light system and a system of “seven closed circuit TV monitors of the Neumos stage for live performances in the mezzanine and other areas of the venue.”

Additional upgrades include:
· New mezzanine layout, completely opening up the balcony to the showroom.
· Fully renovated bathrooms in mezzanine and main floor.
· New stage and production areas.
· New layout in the showroom, include removing the small bar near the stage and adding a new bar in the back of the showroom.
· Complete heat and AC system installation.
· Displayed poster archives from the last decade.
· Exterior building mural honoring the musicians and bands that have graced the stage over the last 20 years, designed and painted by local artist Wierdo.

Meanwhile, the old Moe Bar is gone. In its place, meet the Joan Jett-inspired, Paseo sandwich-powered The Runaway:

After a decade of serving up drinks to concert goers and neighborhood patrons alike, Neumos Group quietly closed down Moe Bar at the end of last year to make room for their new bar concept, The RUNAWAY. The name is a nod to the seminal band, The Runaways, and the spirit of Joan Jett. Embracing that spirit, the bar is designed in graphic black and white collaged images and satin black paint offset with rich wood tones, 70’s spaghetti lamps, basil green upholstery and plush tufted chairs and bar stools. The RUNAWAY is proud to feature installments by two of Seattle’s finest artists, photos from photographer Coco Foto and Jennifer Ament’s 80’s guitar print adorn the bar in a full wrap.

The Runaway will also push the Neumos gang into the “signature cocktail” game with drinks from Capitol Hill bar genius Veronika Groth. Food will be served up by Paseo, now resident in the old Pike Street Fish Fry space at the club. Food service is planned to run between 4 and 10 PM daily with happy hours generously running from 4 to 7 PM.

Neumos, Barboza, Paseo, and The Runaway are celebrating a grand reopening on March 8th. It’s a free party featuring Brothers From Another.

CHS reported in January on the few-month closure of Neumos and changes coming to Moe Bar along with some of the history of the club. The venue opened in 1994 as Moe’s Mo’Roc’N Café.
