CHS Pics | Rock star data scientists and UX design writers at The Lab

It was a small but remarkable crowd that gathered inside a new venue on 15th Ave E on a mid-March Thursday night. It is not every night a group gathers to rub elbows and enjoy a drink with a rock star data scientist.

CHS visited The Lab last month during an appearance by Field Cady, data scientist at the Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence. For $60, data science fans got a copy of his new book, The Data Science Handbook, and a special presentation and signing with the author. Your ticket also got you a drink to help loosen up the conversation about data analysis methodology and big data software. Party!

CHS told you last fall about the new events space and nerd bar added to the Ada’s Technical Bookstore complex built out of an old house in the middle of the 15th Ave E commercial strip.

If you’re interested in a creative approach to books and retail, check out the calendar for the next event and stop in. If you’re interested in “aligning UX design with user psychology” you should really stop in. The Lab hosts David C. Evans on April 11th to talk about his book that examines the “psychological constrictions of attention, perception, memory, disposition, motivation, and social influence that determine whether customers will be receptive to your digital innovations.”

The Lab at Ada’s is located at 425 15th Ave E. Ticket prices vary and many events make lower-priced “companion” tickets available. You can see the upcoming schedule of Ada’s events here.
