Man dead in shooting at 24th and Spruce

A man who was shot late Tuesday night in the Central District near 24th and E Spruce died at the scene according to Seattle Fire radio.

Seattle Fire and police rushed to the area around 11:20 PM after a caller reported hearing gunfire and women saying a man was on the ground at the corner.

SFD medics attempted CPR but other responding units were called off when the victim died at the scene just south of Garfield High School, according to radio dispatches.

Earlier in the night, residents had also called 911 to report gunfire in the area.

Police cordoned off the area to collect evidence and look for shell casings. The department’s CSI unit was at the scene.

Homicide detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting of a man late last night in the Central District. On November 21st, at 11:23 pm, East Precinct officers responded to reports of a person down at 24th Avenue and East Spruce Street. Officers arrived and found Seattle Fire personnel performing CPR on a 45-year-old male who was suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of SFD, the victim was declared deceased at the scene. Homicide detectives responded to the scene and began their investigation. Crime Scene Investigators also responded and processed the scene. This remains an active and on-going investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Seattle Police.
