Bok a Bok Capitol Hill now open

Pike/Pine’s nightlife scene on a weekend can be into long lines. It’s a good indicator of a hopping venue for patrons to line the sidewalk waiting to get inside. It’s even better when things sell out. Fans of Korean-style fried chicken were also lined-up and happy to wait Friday night as White Center-born Bok a Bok debuted its Capitol Hill expansion.

By Monday, however, the little restaurant space next to Neumos that has been home to some legendary drunk food over the years, was getting into the grind of life on the Hill. Early lunch brought a short line and a short-ish wait for a Korean spicy chicken sandwich and slaw or a batch of crispy wings.

In November, CHS broke the news on Bok a Bok’s arrival and Paseo’s decision to exit its deal with Neumos in search of a larger space on the Hill more compatible with the cantina concept owner Ryan Santwire hopes to build here.

In coming to Pike/Pine, Bok a Bok Chicken owner Brian O’Connor has joined the Neumos family, leasing the space next to the club formerly home to Paseo and, way back when, Pike Street Fish Fry, and providing Neumos sister bar The Runaway with chow.

Bok a Bok is located at 925 E Pike with its entrance on 10th Ave. Hours are 11 AM to 11 PM daily — service on the weekends at The Runaway until 2 AM, reportedly. You can learn more at facebook.com/bokabokfriedchicken.
