Happy New Year. It’s time for Sara Naftaly to make you a crepe.
Petite Galette, tucked away behind Sara and Bruce Naftaly’s Marmite and Spirit in the Bottle inside Capitol Hill’s Chophouse Row, is ready to open Wednesday. CHS stopped through a preview party this week to check it out.
Sara — who also bakes at her Amandine next door — has partnered with Capitol Hill food and drink royal family member Tallulah Anderson on the hidden away, understated counter space and cafe specializing in savory buckwheat crepes, “classic” sweet crepes, and fresh juices.

“We look forward to providing a warm and friendly space in the heart of Chophouse Row,” Naftaly said about the project back in December when CHS first reported on the cafe.
As for the name, take it away, Seattle Met: “Crêpes in French Brittany, by the way, are referred to as a galette, hence the name; not to be confused with the other galette, a rustic, free form pastry.”
Petite Galette joins recently openedWestman’s Bagels on E Madison in bringing “breakfast culture” to Capitol Hill. Plans are for openings 9 AM to 6 PM on Mondays through Fridays and from 10 AM to 5 PM on Saturday. Closed Sundays. Prices range from $8 to $12.

I think we need some sort of $ to $$$$ scale in the headline for these openings – that way I don’t have to click in and try and find the menu picture which then fails to show the pricing.
$8 to $12. We asked and were waiting for update. But you could also just stop in next time, check it out for yourself, and decide… “nope.”
Went to Westmans last week. Not all of the bagels were available at seven in the morning, the line was incredibly slow because someone makes lattes while someone else toasts bagels. Maybe I don’t know a good bagel anymore, but I sure wasn’t impressed with these. I think Bagel Deli made a better bagel. In addition, unless you are on foot this place is a very difficult place to frequent.
