• Broadway armed robbery: A victim told police about a gunpoint robbery early Wednesday morning on Broadway. According to East Precinct radio reports, the victim reported being robbed on the street near E Harrison just before 3 AM by a female suspect wearing a heavy green jacket and carrying a dark handgun. The suspect, described as a 5’5″ black female wearing “cold weather clothing,” was reported to have been last seen on foot northbound on Broadway. The victim went to a nearby apartment building to call police. Officers and a K9 unit searched the area but there were no arrests.
• Garfield High shooting threat: KING TV reports that a Garfield High student has been arrested for threatening a shooting at the school just days following the Parkland, Florida mass shooting. According to the police report on the incident, students at the school persisted in reporting the suspect’s behavior even after reporting it to a teacher who took no action. The juvenile suspect was booked into the Youth Service Center for investigation of harassment.
• 12th Ave DUI crash: A 23-year-old driver was taken into custody early Wednesday in a suspected DUI crash that damaged multiple cars just a block from East Precinct headquarters at 12th and Pine:
  

  Just before 2:00 am on February 21st, a patrol officer from the East Precinct observed a silver Toyota Camry traveling northbound on 12th Avenue at a high rate of speed. The Toyota drove through a red light at East Pine Street. The officer attempted to catch up with the speeding vehicle, but it lost control and began colliding with several parked vehicles on both sides of 12th Avenue. The driver of the Camry eventually lost complete control of the vehicle and crashed into a parked car in the 700 block of 12th Avenue.

  Police say the driver also had a suspended license and assaulted staff during attempts to draw blood after he had been transported to the hospital. He was slated to be booked for felony assault, resisting arrest, driving on a suspended license, and DUI.

• Felon arrested with handgun: Police recovered a handgun and busted a convicted felon for carrying it in an incident near 18th and Madison Wednesday night:
  

  Around 5:30 pm Wednesday a witness saw a man with a handgun in the area of 18th Avenue and East Madison. The witness thought that the man appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and called 911. Officers arrived and the witness directed them to the man, who was now sitting inside a vehicle. Officers contacted the man and observed a handgun sticking out of his pocket. The man appeared to be intoxicated. Officers detained him while they checked his name and discovered that he was a convicted felon, thereby prohibited from possessing a gun.

  The 28-year-old was booked into the King County Jail.

• Knife-tossing driver arrested: The Washington State Patrol arrested a driver who allegedly busted out another vehicle’s window by throwing a knife in an apparent road rage incident on I-5 near the Lakeview exit Wednesday around 6:30 PM. What at first appeared to be a shots fired incident turned out to be caused by a well-thrown knife that was reportedly found inside the victim window. The suspect “was tailgating and trying to force the victim out of their lane,” according to WSP. The driver, a 38-year-old male, was tracked down and taken into custody.
