  • 15th/Cherry fire: Seattle Fire responded to a two-alarm fire Thursday just after 11 AM after a vacant structure at 15th and Cherry caught fire and the flames threatened to spread to neighboring buildings:
Crews applied water on the fire and had it under control within 19 minutes. The fire was completely extinguished by 11:48 a.m. Seattle City Light was called for a live power line that had fallen across the Ladder 1 apparatus.
SFD says the cause of the fire is undetermined. There were no reported injuries.
  • Comet beating: A man suffered serious injuries after he was beaten by an assailant who claimed he made him spill beer on himself at the Comet Tavern last Friday night. According to police, the victim said the suspect approached him from behind and began beating on him some 30 minutes after the beer incident. Police were not contacted that night and the victim did not seek treatment for his injuries. Monday, police were called to the Swedish Cherry Hill emergency room where the victim was being treated for “a broken rib, fractured nose, fractured eye socket, and a laceration on his eye ball.” Police are investigating the assault. There were no arrests.
  • E Pine parking lot stabbing: Police were investigating after finding a Capitol Hill club security employee who said she suffered a stab wound in the Rancho Bravo parking lot in an overnight incident early on Sunday, February 4th:
Police recorded her account of the attack:
The attacker was described as “not super tall” with an average build, “well defined” cheekbones, and brown eyes. He appeared to be less than 40 years of age and was wearing a dark beanie, dark shirt, and blue jeans at the time of the attack, the victim told police.
  • Onramp diamond heist: The Washington State Patrol says a $400,000 diamond heist went down on the 520 onramp to I-5 North Tuesday afternoon in a robbery performed with precision and speed. According to the state patrol’s report on the incident, a caller reported what appeared to be a carjacking underway around 3:45 PM Tuesday. The WSP says the victim was driving with a bag of diamonds and visiting clients in the area when a dark sedan crossed in front of his 2017 Nissan Altima and slammed on its brakes on the onramp. Two men with their faces covered by bandanas reportedly got out of the vehicle, smashed the victim’s windows, and grabbed the bag of diamonds, the victim’s car fob, his phone, and his suitcase, before speeding away. The phone was found in a grassy area not far from I-5. WSP continues to search for the getaway vehicle, the suspects, and the diamonds.

  • Aloha scooter crash: A rider reported to be in his 60s suffered serious injuries but was in stable condition after crashing his motor scooter in a single-vehicle crash at 10th and Aloha just before 8 PM Tuesday night. According to Seattle Fire, the rider was taken to Harborview for treatment.

Comet is quickly becoming the top spot for hot heads. Seems like every month there is another assault. Luckily that bar is miserable anyways and I’d never go as it is, just nice to have my apprehension confirmed. Hey Comet owners/bar tenders/security- get a grip on your customers!

“Just nice to have my apprehension confirmed.” Well then, I’m sure the person who was attacked is glad they can confirm your apprehension. Perhaps you should send them and the attacker thank you notes.
