Metier Brewing Co., a short four-hour loop ride from E Union

Capitol Hill’s craft beer scene is growing — you just need to add a four-hour loop to your ride.

E Union’s Metier headquarters will be joined by a new venture a short, 21-mile bike ride away in Woodinville where Metier Brewing Co. is being planned to open this spring:

MBC is a bike-friendly destination in the heart of Woodinville, featuring our distinctive award-winning beers, simple eats, and locally produced wine.

The beer nerds have been talking about the plans since early this year as word spread about new owners at Des Voigne Brewing. Metier is now in process of taking over the former “B-Side Brewing” facility. Metier has now filed its application to become a Washington microbrewery and beer distributor.

Metier opened its high-style cafe, shop, and training center HQ on E Union in late 2015. “We looked at many different options, and really wanted a central location. A good meet-in-the-middle place for people in Seattle, and those coming from the Eastside, too,” co-owner Todd Herriott said at the time.

With Metier’s expansion into beer making, your next Capitol Hill-area beer crawl can include Metier’s E Union neighbor Optimism, a few stops on E Pike at Redhook and Elysian’s soon-to-be-overhauled brewery, a spin through tiny Outer Planet on 12th and then a quick ride over to Standard Brewing at 25th/Jackson before the long haul to Woodinville. If you want to add craft spirits, Heritage Distilling is also setting up shop a block or so from Metier and old-timer OOLA is still crafting its spirits on E Union.

Metier Brewing Co. is slated to open soon at 14125 NE 189th in Woodinville. You can learn more at metierbrewing.com.

“Old-timer OOLA”! Laughing out loud over here.

How fun; they are a great shop and now there’s even more reason to stop in. I wonder, if in tribute to Eddy Merckx, will they make Belgian Ales? Perhaps a ‘Cannibal’ Tripel?
