A man was rushed to Harborview after he staggered into the Starbucks at Broadway and Denny with multiple stab wounds Tuesday morning just before 7 AM.

According to East Precinct dispatch reports, police were searching for a suspect described as a Hispanic or Indian male, 6 feet tall, 175 pounds, and wearing a backwards blue baseball cap and possibly a flannel shirt. He was last reported fleeing in the alley just west of Broadway north from the area where the attack occurred.

Seattle Fire was called to treat the victim at the scene around 6:41 AM for a stab wound near the sternum. He was transported to Harborview in unknown condition. UPDATE: Seattle Fire described the man’s injuries as “serious.”

UPDATE 6/27/2018: Police have released new details of the incident and say the victim suffered life-threatening injuries.

The 26-year-old victim may also owe his life to the Starbucks employee who called 911 and rendered assistance. According to police, an employee at the Broadway/Denny Starbucks called 911 when the 26-year-old man walked into the shop with what appeared to be multiple stab wounds. “The manager provided first aid to the victim until police arrived and took over. Medics arrived soon after and rushed the victim to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries,” police say.

According to the SPD report on the stabbing, a witness reported hearing a loud argument as the incident unfolded in a nearby alley and police found blood on E Denny Way near the alley entrance. Security video reviewed by police showed the victim and the suspect walking together in the alley when they began to argue and one man stabbed the other.

Police say the Starbucks remained closed following the incident for a biohazard clean-up required because of the amount of blood at the scene.
