Another Capitol Hill sale means the (happy) end of The Saint on E Olive Way

Everything is for sale. After a decade on E Olive Way, The Saint has shuttered after a sale of the restaurant to new owners.

“I feel really good passing the baton to them,” Saint owner Quentin Ertel tells CHS. “They are good people. They’re local, they’re super cool, I would classify them as solid old school Capitol Hill folk.”

Ertel said he plans to let the new owners tell their own story about what is coming next for the wedge-shaped space along E Olive Way that used to be a Wing Dome before becoming the home for tacos and “tequila salvation.”

The sale comes in a year of food+drink transactions across Capitol Hill. Ertel said he doesn’t think the hot market is a reflection of a new era on the Hill. “As long as I can remember people who have no experience have been coming into the business,” Ertel said.

It also follows a hot pink overhaul and reinvestment in The Saint that saw the restaurant drop food from its offerings before restoring the taco menu to much celebration.

For Ertel, the sale represents a personal opportunity to take a rest, enjoy time with family, and assess his opportunities for what comes next. “I’m just going to take it easy for awhile,” he said.

As for Ertel’s other major Capitol Hill holding, don’t expect any similar changes. He says Havana will continue “100% the same.” “Everybody has a Havana story,” Ertel says of his E Pike bar and nightclub’s nightlife good times reputation.

We’re celebrating that he’ll have time to reconnect with his family after he shut down without giving his employees any notice?

Love this place. Delicious margaritas and tacos from day one. Kudos to the owner for pushing the envelope with the color choices.
Refreshing to see the place will be handed over to other good folks. Excited to see what happens!
Enjoy your time off with your family. Thanks again for 10 years of coolness!
