With Dirty Thai cocktails and punchline plans, Bites of Bangkok now open on 15th Ave E

Pranesh Sharma is now pouring on 15th Ave E. The laughs are coming soon.

With plans for a familiar recipe combining Thai food and comedy, Bites of Bangkok is now open on 15th Ave E.

What? You’re not familiar with the traditional Capitol Hill pairing of live comedy performance and the cuisine of Bangkok? Let Capitol Hill residents Jansri Parichat and Pranesh Sharma delight you.

CHS reported earlier on the plans for the former Jai Thai bartender Sharma to branch out on his own on 15th Ave E with business partner and girlfriend Parichat heading the kitchen.

Now that the joint is in motion, Sharma can share his plans to bring comedy to the venue six nights a week with a mix of open mic and headliner performances. Seattle comedian Rick Taylor who also previously helped make comedy a mainstay at Broadway’s Jai Thai, is joining Bites of Bangkok to bring the punchlines to Capitol Hill’s quieter but growing entertainment district.

Bites of Bangkok replaces the Mediterranean-flavored Olive Tree which folded earlier this year in the challenged 15th Ave E space formerly home to the Bagel Deli. Its small plates style of Thai is available for lunch and dinner with plans for eventual bingo brunch.

The comedy is also still in the works with plans for a full opening in January. But first, Sharma says he needs to build the stage. In the meantime, there’s a Dirty Thai cocktail here with your name on it.

Bites of Bangkok is now open at 340 15th Ave E. You can learn more at facebook.com/bitesofseattle.
