• Overnight robberies: In a busy overnight for East Precinct cops, SPD investigated two armed street robberies early Friday morning. The first reported hold-up went down around 1:45 AM when a man said he was robbed at gunpoint near the 100 block of 21st Ave E. A second street hold-up was reported about 15 minutes later when a group of five said they were robbed at gunpoint near Union and Boylston. The group said they were held up by a group of three with one person armed with a handgun, according to East Precinct radio dispatches. In the first robbery, the victim told police there were two assailants including an armed suspect described only as a black male in his 20s with a stocky build and wearing a white sweatshirt. Police searches for the suspects were not successful. There were no reported injuries.
• 15th/Aloha DUI crash: Police responding to reports of an SUV that crashed into parked cars near 15th and Aloha just after 2 AM looked for passengers reported fleeing the scene and found the driver standing on the sidewalk alongside the messy scene early Friday morning. According to East Precinct radio dispatches, the vehicle crashed into several cars at the scene. Callers reported seeing at least one male and a woman fleeing from the scene in different directions. Police took the driver into custody for investigation of DUI. There were no reported serious injuries.
• Light rail housing construction burglary: Thousands of dollars in tools were believed stolen in an overnight December 7th burglary at the Capitol Hill Station mixed-use construction site at Broadway and Denny. According to the SPD report on the incident, workers arrived early the next Saturday morning to find a three-foot hole cut in the chain link fence on the east side of the work site. Large equipment boxes from several contractors working on the site were busted into with the thief or thieves slicing locks off four different boxes at the scene and making off with loads of power tools.
• Madrona dog attack: Police were called to a Madrona private elementary school Thursday morning after a pit bull dog got loose and bit children on the campus, SPD reports:
  At approximately 10:40 am, officers responded to the school after receiving reports that students had been bitten by a loose dog on school grounds. Two dogs had managed to get loose from a nearby residence and entered the school grounds just as a group of third graders were returning to class from recess. One of the dogs jumped on one of the students and the student received several bites. Two other students also received minor bites from the dog as well. A school staff member heard the commotion and was able to separate the dogs from the children. Fortunately, all of the injuries were considered to be minor.
  Police say the animals were returned home and animal control officers from the Seattle Animal Shelter responded to take the two dogs into custody. Animal control investigators will conduct the follow up investigation, SPD says.
• Good deed burglar: A Broadway apartment resident told police her good deed may have cost her dearly after her home was burglarized December 6th while she worked a late night. According to the SPD report on the incident, the victim had let a woman use her apartment’s bathroom and also cashed a check for the woman which later bounced:
  
  

  

  The victim said more than $2,000 in electronics and cash were taken in the burglary. From the description of the possible thief, police identified a likely suspect known for burglary in the area but there was no reported arrest.

• Diaper heist: Police are searching for prolific diaper thieves who ripped off the 23rd/Madison Safeway for nearly $1,000 in goods in a brazen shoplifting episode reported December 6th. According to the SPD report on the incident, the thieves hit the store around 9 PM and began carrying every box of diapers they could find out to their waiting vehicle:
  When an employee confronted the thieves, they pushed past, finished loading the van and sped off. Police have security images of the suspects and the van and are investigating the theft.
• Road rage gunfire: A victim who said he got into a beef with another driver along Broadway told police his car was shot up by the unknown assailant in an early morning December 2nd incident:
  Police documented the damage to the vehicle and recovered one slug from inside the car. There were no arrests.
