Police convinced two men reportedly causing a disturbance near 10th and Pike outside the Comet Tavern to move along Friday night.

Earlier in the evening, there were multiple reports of two men wearing Donald Trump’s “Make America Great Again” hats and carrying a poster advertising “free hugs” attempting to interview and make video recordings of E Pike passersby.

Around 8:30 PM, police were called to the area to a reported disturbance involving at least one of the men. Meanwhile, one of the MAGA supporters called 911 to report his camera had been “smacked” from his hand, according to East Precinct radio updates.

Officer were able to quickly bring the situation to a close and the men left the area without further incident. There were no reported arrests or serious injuries. We do not know if anybody was cited in the incidents.

Capitol Hill has been an ongoing popular target for right wing protesters and small groups to target for rallies, social media stunts, and attempts at provocation. Fortunately, most incidents have been small in scale and have involved only a few individuals.
