A long weekend! Good vibes with marimbas and vibraphones! Free Punk Rock Aerobics in Volunteer Park! Slushies and queer summer parties! Riot Grrrl music at Pony! Labor Day Weekend sales! Jeff Goldblum in fifties outfits! Summer fun is not over, and if you need any more proof, check out the list below. Head over to our calendar for more events.

WEDNESDAY, Aug 28: If there’s one thing that sometimes feels missing from the arts scene in Seattle, it’s “real talk.” Expect a lot of it during “The Mixer: Advancing Equity in the Arts – Real Talk,” the fourth and final panel discussion in a series of community discussions at Northwest African American Museum. Theatre maven Sara Porkalob, dancer and recent Mayor’s Arts Award winner Dani Tirrell, as well as Reese Tanimura, Managing Director of Northwest Folklife, will discuss what the city can do to mitigate racial disparities in the creative economy. Northwest African American Museum, 5 – 7 PM

THURSDAY, Aug 29 – THURSDAY, Sep 5: It looks like we’re getting at least some hot summer days in the end. For the Seattleites who can’t wait for the darker days to begin, Northwest Film Forum is screening some excellent films this week. The Proposal sounds like a random rom-com though it’s anything but: the film by artist Jill Magid chronicles her artistic obsession with the archives of famed architect Luis Barragán, whose ashes she’s also had made into a diamond ring. Fans of Jeff Goldblum and the fifties will get their money’s worth at the fifties-set The Mountain, wherein Goldblum is  a“lobotomist for hire.” Northwest Film Forum, various times

FRIDAY, Aug 30: The only Three Dollar Bill Outdoor Cinema of the summer is Friday night. Be there. Cal Anderson, sunset

Yes, pop star Lizzo is still a 100% that bitch, and she proved as much during her recent performance at MTV’s Video Music Awards in front of a giant peach/booty balloon. Celebrate Lizzo and “her divine contemporaries” at 100% That Queen a dance party featuring music by “Lizzo and other queens” as well as local drag queen performances. Neumos, 9 PM

SATURDAY, Aug 31: “A revolutionary act,” the organizers behind Wa Na Wari called their new arts space in the Central District. The house recently became a home for Black art, music, storytelling, community events and celebrations of joy. Case in point: Draw Till You Laugh – a comics workshop for all ages. Hosted by local nonprofit Short Run Seattle, local comic artist Lauren Armstrong will guide participants through “unconventional” drawing exercises that will “help you laugh through the process.” No experience necessary. Wa Na Wari, 12.30 PM

SATURDAY, Aug 31 – SUNDAY, Sep 1: If you ask us, there are few upsides to end-of-summer season. Just one: the twice-yearly citywide end-of-season sale. This year local shops and designers will sell their wares at discounted prices at the Melrose Market Studios. Find merch from Can’t Blame The Youth, Glasswing Shop and Greenhouse, Hammer & Awl, Indian summer Vintage, Standard Goods, and others. Melrose Market, 11 AM

SATURDAY, Aug 31: It’s a tradition. The Pistil Books’ Annual Outdoor Book Sale returns to the alley behind 1415 E Union with amazing deals on some of independent book seller’s supply of “eclectic books you didn’t know you’ve always wanted to read: offbeat literary classics, rare histories, progressive manifestos, hard-to-find art books, lit crit, sexuality studies, etc.” 1415 E Union, 10 AM to 4 PM

Call it improv for mystics or just your regular Seattle millennial shenanigans; chances are things will get strangely funny during The Reader, an improv show which takes the tarot readings of two brave audience members as point of departure. Bandit Theatre, 10.30 PM

SUNDAY, Sept 1: Rest. You work too hard.

MONDAY, Sept 2: Labor Day means the return of free burgers at Li’l Woody’s. From 2 to 5 PM, roll up to the Pine burger joint for your free lunch. Happy holiday. Li’l Woody’s
