The “Festival of Fools” is a cross collaborative event featuring music, artwork, and dance from around the Seattle artist community.
The music will be a mix of jazz and psychedelic-soul. Opening the night is Cornish alum Steve O’Brien’s “Only Trio”, a dynamic chamber-jazz ensemble of brass, woodwinds, and drums. As the evening progresses, Thomas Whiteside’s 7-piece ensemble “Idiovoid” (http://www.idiovoid.com) will journey through jazz, soul, and psychedelia, performing original music written and arranged within the ensemble.
Artwork by Art Institute alum Ian Kolbas (http://www.iankolbasphotography.com/) and Cornish alum Clarkia Cobb will be showing throughout the room and on the stage for a colorful combination of the obscure and visceral. Dancers and Flow artists will be performing to add a third dimension of performance throughout the room.
The masquerade will be held at Capitol Cider on April 1st from 8pm-Midnight. The event is free and open to the public, with a suggested donation of $5. Patrons will be provided with custom masks, and are encouraged to dress eccentric in celebration of April Fools Day. Hope to see you there!
