The Seattle Girls’ Choir Cantamus and the Seattle First Baptist Sanctuary Choir perform the northwest premiere of The Peacemakers by Welsh composer Karl Jenkins, one of the most performed living composers. Jenkin’s 70th birthday in February was celebrated with retrospective performances at Carnegie Hall and Royal Albert Hall. In this oratorio, he sets texts by iconic historical peacemakers, including Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King, Mother Teresa and the Dalai Lama. The musical scoring is lush, vibrant, reverent, and alive with purpose. You will leave this concert energized to take peace back out into the world. Seattle City Attorney Pete Holmes offers the spoken word while Women in Black stand vigil for those who have died on the streets from violence. A Peace Information Fair follows the concert with groups from around Puget Sound sharing information and ways to get involved. Childcare provided; limited free parking.
