good news for people who love sandwiches

After a long absence, during which we made due with a selection of pre-prepared sandwiches, wraps, and salads, Victrola has found an in-house sandwich maker to provide snacks to go along with their usual selection of caffeinated and new and growing selection of alcoholic beverages. I haven’t noticed whether their new sandwich chef has tweaked the menu or if they will be sticking with the classics.

another kind of election night buzz at victrola

The general consensus is that no matter what happens on election night, drinking of one sort or another will be mandatory. If our friends on the eastern seaboard are cooperative, it might be all over but the counting by the end of the workday on Tuesday. If the “real” America is more populous than current polling indicates, it could mean a long night of counting for the cable news anchors and their magic screens.

Either way, by that time, there will be another place to get an adult beverage on 15th Avenue. Although their beer and wine service officially starts on the first day of November, Victrola will user in the addition of alcohol to their menu with an election night party, meaning that you’ll be able to titrate your wakefulness and sharpmindedness with espresso between libations depending on the level of attention you want to pay to the intricacies of vote tallying.

How the addition of drinks will change the mood of 15th avenue’s most beloved cafe long term is another question. I have the sense that its identity as a coffeeshop is so entrenched that a few people sipping wine won’t make much of a difference in its overall character. Anyone have concerns that the place will never be the same with beer among the macbook farm?
