Trees are evermore critical to making Seattle a healthy and worthwhile place to be. In addition to capturing and storing the carbon dioxide that threatens our climate, they also cool down “heat islands”, help prevent dirty stormwater from entering our waterways, and offer refuge from our increasingly developed urban environment. Not to mention their beauty, coming in all different shapes, sizes, textures, and colors. Join a local Tree Ambassador in exploring 20+ common trees of Seattle. Learn a little about tree identification and what makes each unique and important to the city’s natural environment. The walk covers approximately one mile and is mostly flat, except for two moderate uphill blocks. The event is FREE. Please RSVP here. Meet at the corner of 14th Ave and Union St.
