These apartments feel brand new -- I'm the second occupant of my 1-bedroom on the sixth floor and the apartment is in great condition. The entire building seems inexpensively constructed; the unit countertops are sort of cheap, and the baseboard and window sills follow suit. The details are clean, new, and ultimately flimsy and inexpensive. My review of the unit and the building would likely be very different in 10 or 15 years.
But because it's all new and clean, it seems magical right now. The prices aren't crazy for the location, and the roof deck is just plain awesome. There's a large grill, bunches of tables, planters with trees and flowers, and it's a gorgeous panoramic view of downtown and the hill. It may seem silly, but the roof deck was a big part of my decision to live here.
Everybody that's represented The Heights has been great (office staff, cleaning and maintenance, etc.). Professional, clear, pretty quick. You kind of get the sense that there's a huge parent company (especially with the flyers in the elevator and the online rent payment system), but I'm impressed that everybody downstairs remembers my name and is almost always available.
A great place to live, even if it is one of those monstrous new buildings that towers over the remaining beautiful and historic buildings in the 'hood.
