The second design review meeting for the development at 11th Avenue and E Pine Street is tonight. It looks like developer Pryde + Johnson is planning to preserve two facades of the building and insert five stories on top. For an example of this type of development in the neighborhood, check out the Packard Building at 12th and E Pike. Full details on their plan can be found here .
Be sure to come to the design review meeting tonight and voice your opinions.

Please take time out today to mail back your ballot. Thousands of King County ballots go uncounted every year because they are put in the mailbox on election day AFTER the last pickup. It MUST be postmarked by November 3, 2009 so sticking the letter in the mailbox after work on Tuesday probably won't be acceptable. Mail it today, one day early!
Also today, be sure to remind all of your friends, relatives and co-workers that they need to vote by tomorrow and get it in the mailbox BEFORE last pickup
On 10/15/09, at 1030 p.m., a couple returned to their parked vehicle in the 1700 block of Harvard Ave. and interrupted a carprowl in progress. They confronted the male suspect.
A second suspect was parked in a white sedan next to the victim’s vehicle. This suspect tossed what the victims believed to be a hand gun to the suspect in their car. The victims ran away from the scene and called 911.
The suspects were described as white males, in their 40’s, driving a white sedan. These suspects also fit the description of two arm robbers from an later incident at 17th and E. Spring St. The suspect’s vehicle was a white sedan.
On 10/4/09, at aproximately 9:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to call of a strongarm robbery at Broadway and E. Union St. Upon arrival, the victims explained that the suspects had assaulted and robbed them. When a good samaritan intervened, they assaulted and robbed him, taking his wallet.
Another suspect drove into the scene, and tried to run over one of the victims. The first two suspects jumped into the suspect vehicle and it drove off. A witness followed the suspects for a time. At one point, near 16 AV and E. Spring St., two suspects got out of the truck and fired at least one shot at the witness, striking his car. The witness backed off.
Officers located the truck at 15th and E. Spring St., and the three occupants were taken into custody. The driver (female) and two adult male suspects were booked into King County Jail for Investigation of Robbery. In addition the driver was booked for Investigation of Assault.
Suspects booked...
