drop a buck in his case
Hope you tossed a dollar in for CHS. I'll hit him next time just in case. He's usually working Harvard QFC or the Jimi statue. Funny tune for this day.

RE: strange
Outage zones often have patches where service is maintained because of how the system is configured. It's a big patchwork network. If you are lucky enough to be on the edge of one grid, you might be in the light while your neighbor is in the dark.

RE: Restaurants
Dash Dash, sometimes you make me wonder how much time you get to spend on the Hill. People come to Broadway because of a concentration of options. I have anecdotal evidence, of course. And I have seen data the Chamber collected.

I'll take you out to Aoki sometime.

'fierce competition'
From a comment on the other post about last night's competition:
http://www.capitolhillseattle.com/2009/08/26/barista-jam-and
Awesome Night!
Hey everyone! The latte art throw-down was a huge success! 32 baristas from all over Seattle threwdonw in some fierce competition. The top 10 Finalist will throw-down again in September, also live-streamed, against Intelligentsia in LA. This will be another event that NO coffee fanatic should miss.

Big shout out to Victrola Coffee Roasters and Visions Espresso's Coffee Enhancement Lounge (CEL) for hosting this amazing event.

woes
I talked to the producer for this about possibly being on the show and could hear her straining to make a big deal out of this. Not convinced there will be woes because of new RPZ. Parking is tight in a city.

RE: Effect on Businesses?
Here's what Sound Transit had to say about their efforts to help Olive Way area businesses during the closure:

Sound Transit worked closely with the Washington State Department of Transportation, the City of Seattle and King County Metro to plan the most direct detour for individuals to get to Capitol Hill. During the year long closure a signed detour route will be in place. Drivers will exit to Madison Street and turn left on Boren Avenue to reach Olive Way.

In addition to the signed detour, Sound Transit is creating detour direction cards for business to utilize, posting the detours directions on our website so business can post the detour directions on their websites for patrons, and doorbelling businesses in the area to educate them on the closures and the detour routes. Please let us know if we can further assist businesses in educating their patrons on the detour routes.

Let's get a taco
All the hipsters 'turning cartwheels on their blogs' are reacting to something real. The delicious tacos are cheap and muy autentico and, yes, might just be the best thing that has happened to Capitol Hill in years.

Word of the Week, um, contest
Looks like we've got our three (but feel free to share your coffee order if you feel the spirit). You can still win something this weekend, however -- looking for a Cap Hill One-time-only Word of the Week and giving away a pass for 2 to NWFF screening of your choice:

Dominic Holden reported the B&O loan info here:
http://slog.thestranger.com/slog/archives/2009/01/21/saving_

We're often confused for each other ;-)

Regardless of the possible reasons, interesting to see the Broadway location change. I wouldn't worry too much about B&O leaving the hill anytime soon -- as I reported here, the development process of the Olive location has already stretched out over years and still there isn't a project schedule:
