Though I'm a little ambivalent about helping the competition sell papers with sensationalism like this, any attention for the Capitol Hill Community Council is good attention. Also, note to future council presidents -- do not work with children. You will be upstaged.
Make plans to attend our first meeting with the new CHCC officers: Thursday, June 26th, 7p to 9p Room 3211 at SCCC, 1701 Broadway
The rewards of neighborhood blogging and community involvement are small. But the other night, I received this thank you from a true Capitol Hill hero.
![]() Yes, neighbors -- I received an autograph from Boe the scarf dancer. Things like that make it all worth it. If you can't read the card in the image, here's the description of the services Boe offers: Seize the day... Celebrate it!Just do it, indeed. Thanks Boe -- you made my week and blew my mind. For example, yesterday, we became FB buddies with Project Runway's Jack Mackenroth. He joins a herd of Capitol Hill celebrities in our neighbor list like recording artist Ali Marcus, Seattlest Dan, Adam Loving -- inventor of the Zuckerbuck!, and Josh Bis, owner of the world record for filling our RSS reader with his posts, thoughts, doings and wants. We know you're out there -- so, tell us, what are you famous for? If you're planning to watch the new season of Project Runway on the big screen at 22 Doors, root for the hometown kid. Turns out, Project Runway Season 4 designer Jack Mackenroth is from right here in the 'hood and his sister, bless her heart, is a CHS reader.Of course, being the skeptical sorts, at first we didn't believe jo when she said she was Jack's sister. Then we got this e-mail from the designing man himself: Hey there--My sister sent me your post about the PR viewing. Have fun!!!! Cheer for me. My family home is on 16th ave east. I went in there a couple times when it was Jack's bistro. So there you have it. Our neighborhood has skin in the game. Maybe if Jack does (did?) well, he'll open a men's fashion boutique on 15th Ave. But we definitely noticed all 6'10" of Chris Wilcox and his pals hanging around 15th Ave last night. Not sure what the power dunker was up to -- maybe waiting for his turn at Hopvine's open mic Wednesday. Our first celebrity item makes us feel a little dirty. Sorry to invade your privacy, Chris, but we've got a blog to maintain here. --j/k
