It's HalfPintIceCream.com-- now they just need a 15th Ave. E address.
Had the opportunity to chat up the Half Pint Ice Cream folks at last Sunday's farmers' market while enjoying a cup of creamy toasted coconut wonderfulness.
Here's the scoop:
Check out this post for more on the delicious offerings of the Broadway farmers' market.
But their latest blog entry -- Victrola Coffee ice cream? -- is exciting nonetheless. It reminds that Half Pint Ice Cream and its Victrola-ingrediented Cappuccino Chip is now available at the Sunday Capitol Hill farmers' market. Yelpers have some nice things to say about the little hand-crafted ice cream purveyor. Hopefully a non-Sunday Half Pint opportunity will emerge. Greed! We always want more!
BTW, you can also meet some of the people behind the revival of the Capitol Hill Community Council at this weekend's market. Look for the CHCC table and posters. There will also be a candidate or two out to squeeze some palms before the upcoming June 5th CHCC election.
#1 -- We love rumors.
#2 -- We love new businesses in the neighborhood. #3 -- We love ice cream. We love rumors about new ice cream businesses in the neighborhood: bummer, i'd heard a rumor at one point that molly moon's was looking for a location on capitol hill, but i guess we lost out to wallingford. maybe their 2nd location can be on the hill. This goes into the what coulda been rumor hall of fame with the Twice Sold Tales-Rainbow Grocery space rumor from last summer. Ah, regret...
Difficult to not envy Wallingford this -- new artisinal ice cream shop Molly Moons:
I'd expected the ice cream to be great, but the sauces took me off guard. Owner Molly Neitzel has teamed up with Veil pastry chef Dana Cree, so instead of run-of-the-mill scoop wetters, you get toppings worth eating alone, like bu-bu-buttery vanilla bean butterscotch and a sweet (seasonal!) orange-rhubarb compote that screams to slide down a mountain of the strawberry-balsamic ice cream. (Put that stuff in a jar!)Well, yes, we do have CrazyCherry.
We're here to celebrate the details of the neighborhood, the hidden gems of 15th Ave, etc. We're not here to tell you about pizza you already know all about. But we can't help it -- even if the only thing this has to do with the neighborhood is that you can order their delivery here.
Through Thanksgiving -- that means tonight, for example -- Pagliacci will deliver the creamiest, most delicious-est pumpkin gelato to your door so you don't have to waddle to Gelatiamo yourself. Happy autumn!
Very cool -- one of the area's mobile ice cream delivery units captured in motion. We've described the truck in the past as "ghetto ass." We're not knocking it. We want our ice cream to have street credibility.
Anybody else think that Crazyberry should swap locations with Red Balloon Co.?
