We are irrational walkers. Even if we’re picking up two loads of dry cleaning, a cake and 3 organic gourds from Rainbow, we feel compelled to walk to 15th Ave because we live up here on Capitol Hill now, dammit, so we’re not getting in the car.
Today, however, I turned the first traffic circle toward recovery and drove to an errand on 15th — only to collide with a new dilemma: Where to park?
My solution, though my errand had nothing to do with Kroger Co. groceries, was the QFC parking lot across from Victrola. Despite the threatening tow company signage, this was also the decision of three other people I watched which made me wonder if any of the cars in the lot actually belonged to QFC shoppers.
Does QFC care? Should they operate the lot in a joint agreement with Victrola? Are the tow signs a corporate formality or litigation-proofing in the event some rusted-out Volvo abuses the lot privileges? We don’t know! But it would be a shame if QFC ever starts enforcing its signage. It and Walgeen’s few spots seem to be a necessesity for getting your bidness done on 15th.

damn, great minds think alike. i was in the same dilemna last night. however, since there were no other options, i parked at QFC while i went to 22 doors. BTW, 22 doors is LAME!
I similarly abused the Safeway the other night, though I did stop in to buy some mints. I’m not sure that a tow truck driver would have been impressed by that receipt, though.
22 Doors is extremely lame for meals, but awesome for drinks and desserts.
May I be so bold to point out, that here at Liberty, we have a lot across the street at Walgreens. I cannot think of a better reason to be in the Walgreen’s lot other than coming over here for some cocktails and maybe even some sushi? Yum.

They used to patrol the lot, several years ago. Too many people not seeking “fine wine at the QFC.” Show a little restraint and we’re all good.
